Studyverse - Founding Full-Stack Engineer

- Designed, implemented, and deployed Studyverse’s APIs (50k active users peak). Technologies include GraphQL and REST APIs hosted on Amazon EC2 and AWS Lambda with TypeScript/Node.js, as well as async services facilitated by RabbitMQ, Amazon SQS, and WebSocket messaging with Ably Realtime.

- Notable features include study buddy matching based on shared contacts and interests, live tracking of study time and gamification, group DMs with email and mobile push notifications, and React/Next.js UIs to support study rooms with live voice/video connecting 50+ users concurrently.

- Implemented and maintained third-party integrations to enable features including Twilio Video & Conversations for study rooms, SendGrid & Amazon SNS for email/push notifications, and more.

- Implemented chat, video, and websocket clients for use with Studyverse’s React frontend.

- Scaled API servers and MongoDB/Redis deployments as the user base grew from 2k to 50k+ active users, maintaining sub-150ms latency on API requests.

- Led the implementation of a web-based travel planning & booking product with support for desktop and mobile platforms built with React, Cordova, Express/Socket.IO, Rails, and MySQL.

Snapsheet - Staff Software Engineer

- Prototyped the configurable claims management UI and led the onsite demo, securing Snapsheet’s first SaaS contract ($1.5M), leading to multiple additional contracts.

- Led the design and implementation of the core Snapsheet product – a configurable insurance claims UI framework (React) and API backend (Ruby on Rails), managing a team of 4.

- Redesigned engineering process with input from stakeholders. Process was adopted by design, engineering, and QA teams, reducing development time and production bugs by 30%.
