Remote Software Engineer - Center Moriches, New York

From August 2022 to August 2023, I worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Digital Insight Games, Inc. It was a full-stack role in a remote startup environment. During this time, I had the opportunity to work on various aspects of the project. One of my main responsibilities was implementing a Server-Sent Events consumer in Unreal Engine 5. I also owned the implementation of the data bootstrap consumer pipeline. Additionally, I was responsible for creating the frontend based on Figma mockups using Svelte[Kit] and Tailwind. On the backend, I developed a RESTful API using TypeScript, Fastify, and integrated Mongoose for database interactions with JSON schema validation. Managing a pnpm monorepo, setting up Github Actions CI, and handling deployments to AWS were also part of my tasks. Apart from technical contributions, I actively supported the team through code reviews, participating in weekly team meetings, and maintaining an open-door policy for discussions.

From March 2020 to August 2022, I worked as a Software Engineer at LimeTerracotta Gaming Community. In this role, I dealt with maintaining and adapting code to accommodate changes in game server APIs. I utilized organization GitHub repositories, secrets, and continuous integration tools for source control. I wrote new code to address evolving requirements and implement new features. Additionally, I managed both production and development environments, including tasks like database management, SSL keys, and more. A significant part of my work involved maintaining a Docker Compose stack of services. I also provided technical support to address issues in the production environment as they arose.

I hold a Master's degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Texas, completed in December 2018, and a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Indiana University, which I completed in December 2015.

One of my notable projects is "Tweaks for Reddit" - a macOS app extension built with SwiftUI. The app follows a redux-like paradigm for controlling state and propagating updates to views. It interfaces with the Reddit REST API using OAuth2 via URLSession and Combine. Data is persisted using CoreData and CloudKit. The project's architecture leverages the Swift Package Manager to separate concerns into distinct packages. Continuous integration and deployment pipelines are set up via GitHub Actions to semi-automate TestFlight updates.

Another project I worked on is "Isolation," a first-person investigative horror game created using Unity and C#. The game development process involved crafting engaging gameplay mechanics and creating an immersive experience for players.

Additionally, I developed the "Phasmophobia Hunter’s Guide," a real-time collaborative browser tool for the PC game Phasmophobia. The project was written using Node.js and React, with the backend implemented in Express and Postgres. The application was Dockerized, ensuring easy deployment and management. The backend was made CORS-compliant to enable smooth interactions, and the project as a whole showcased my skills in building interactive and useful web applications.
