Remote Front End Engineer - Henrico, Virginia

From October 2021 to September 2023, I worked on SiteZeus, a data analysis SaaS platform for multi-unit businesses. SiteZeus is a legacy Knockout application where new features are built in Vue 3 and Teleported into the DOM. It involves complex state management across Knockout, VueX, Pinia, and a geographical map built using Leaflet.

As a part of SiteZeus I was a major frontend contributor to the Territories subscription. Customers had been wanting the ability to represent their assigned and available territories on SiteZeus for years; I ported the old Polygons feature from Knockout to Vue 3 and implemented a wide variety of new features and panels that allowed customers to manipulate custom shapes for use in statistical analysis and business planning.

I had previously worked on the new Gizmos site for ExploreLearning from April 2020 - October 2021. Gizmos is a repository of over 400 math and science games for kids from elementary to high school. As the primary frontend contributor, I wired up a pre-rendering system in Node, maintained three student results reporting applications and connected them to a new GraphQL API, and led an initiative to improve compliance with accessibility standards.

From August 2019 to April 2020, I worked on a variety of projects as a student and then a freelancer. I built the Paper Notes app in React, a simple CRUD application with a backend built with Node and Express. In my free time, I took the project from class components and sqlite3 to React Hooks, TypeScript, and PostgreSQL.

With Braid I worked on the Giving site for the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business. I learned PHP, Drupal, and wrote IE11-supporting JavaScript and CSS to create a responsive site backed by an easy-to-use Content Management System.
